Los Llanos, Colombia

Type | Consultancy for a social sustainability masterplan

Client | Public Limited Company

Status | Completed July 2010

Collaboration | Ed Wall, Dickon Hayward and James Richter

This was a consultancy for a private natural resource exploration company based in Colombia. One of the notorious problems of exploration fields is the social segregation of the workers from the local community and the regional separation from their family. To mitigate the social, physical and environmental problems arising form these ‘exploration towns’, A Small Studio was commissioned to prepare a feasibility study and masterplan of social sustainability. The feasibility study prepared a long-term agenda of educational, cultural, environmental and physical activities to accompany a twelve-year building programme.
