This is a large double-fronted Victorian house that originally had five bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. In the 1980s the previous owners had a loft conversion that A Small Studio’s client described as ‘sticking a caravan on the top of the house’. Our brief was to demolish the previous loft conversion and change the roof geometry from hip to gable, adding an extra third of volume to the loft space. With a very careful palette of high-quality materials -selected because of their graceful ageing- we undertook a large loft renovation. In the end, the project added two en-suite bathrooms and a utility room.
