The existing house is a grand property abundant with period features. It is not fully renovated which adds to its charm as a period property. The eating area needs an improved layout to enlarge the kitchen and integrate a new dining room into the space. This house is sometimes quiet, with two full-time residents but suddenly it can become very noisy and full of life; full of kids, family and friends. From quiet tea-time it can easily become a mad-hatter’s tea party.

This proposal is relatively straightforward but creates a big impact. The design strategy throughout is to use -and work with- the existing features, the furniture and the proportions of this beautiful house. We are trying to create a space that is in keeping with the original style of the house, but modernise the layout and functionality of the areas.
