This was a renovation and extension of a 1920s Tudor-style house. The ground floor was completely renovated and a contemporary façade was designed to the back of the house. This means the front remained Tudor and to the average passer-by, nothing changed. However, for the clients, the experience of the house dramatically changed. The minute one enters, natural daylight floods the space and the rooms have all been finished to a meticulous standard. The feature of the renovation is a rear-facing kitchen and eating room that looks over a dramatic sweeping view over Kent. A corner window was designed to frame the view, and provide the family a comfortable light-filled hang-out area. With concealed storage throughout and bespoke indirect lighting, this is a family house that both adults and children can enjoy.
